So the announcing team has been...um...announced for the impending Cubs-Diamondbacks series on TBS. (Check out the whole announcing schedule here.)

We get the vaunted team of Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and Marc Fein. (Crickets) Wow. Upon hearing this news I went to my hallway closet, got out the iron, plugged it in, waited 5 minutes for it be sufficiently hot and then pressed the scalding hot metal to my face.

Dick Stockton? What is this, the 1989 NBA Finals? The goddamn Winter Olympics?

Ron Darling...what, was Mackey Sasser tied up? Marc Fein? I don't know who you are. This is no time for you to be building your resume.

It may all turn out fine but I don't like change. As much as I hate Fox at times, it's a love/hate relationship. In the immortal words of Jack Twist, "I wish I knew how to quit you."

I'll come right out and say it. I enjoy Joe Buck. He isn't perfect but he knows his shit. He does a great job of letting the crowd noise do the talking at all the right times. He has a knowledge of the game that helps offset McCarver's dementia. And I dunno, something about watching playoff baseball on Fox gets me pumped up. There is a familiarity to it that is comforting. The invasive graphics, 'futuristic' sound effects, Tim McCarver's ridiculously inane statements...even though some of these things are needlessly annoying, I've come to associate them with postseason baseball.

TBS. I'm watching you. Literally. You've been warned. Ron Darling. Christ on a bike.
